Anti-vibration mats help protect against track noise

The tram line and the railway corridor run in close proximity to the future Vltava Philharmonic Hall. In order to prevent vibrations from the operation from endangering the sensitive acoustic environment of the concert halls and disturbing the visitors, the Philharmonic Hall project envisages a modern technical solution - anti-vibration mats, which have already been installed on the adjacent railway.

Anti-vibration mats are commonly used in dense urban areas to dampen vibrations from trams and trains so that they do not spread to surrounding buildings.

The mats are made of recycled rubber and act as a flexible cushioning layer under the tracks. It is thanks to them that vibrations from traffic are transmitted to the surrounding structures significantly less, thus protecting the acoustic qualities of the building.

🔹 A 25 mm thick anti-vibration mat will be installed under the tram line

🔹 A 22 mm thick anti-vibration mat has been installed under the railway line (Prague-Bubny station and Negrelli viaduct)

Anti-vibration mats are just one step in a comprehensive system of measures to ensure superior acoustic conditions inside concert halls. In addition, the project includes, for example, a box-in-box construction of the halls, special facade modifications and a thoroughly designed building foundation.
