On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the partnership between Prague and Kyoto, Kyoto Mayor Koji Matsui visited the Vltava Philharmonic Hall project offices this week as part of his programme in Prague. He arrived in Prague together with the official delegation of the City of Kyoto, consisting of representatives of the city leadership, the Kyoto City Assembly and the city’s office for international cooperation.
The guests were welcomed by Martin Gross, Deputy Head of the Project Team, who introduced them to the current state of preparations for the Vltava Philharmonic Hall, the future programme of the building and its significance for the transformation of the Vltavská area. The meeting also included a presentation of the model, which illustrates the architectural design of the building and its relationship with the surrounding public space.
The delegation also had the opportunity to experience a virtual tour using 3D glasses and walk through the interiors and surroundings of the future national music centre. The Vltava Philharmonic Hall will offer concert halls, a creative hub, a music library, gastronomic facilities and publicly accessible terraces with views of Prague.
At the end of the visit, the Mayor presented the project representatives with a gift as a memento of the meeting. We greatly appreciate it and hope that, after the opening of the Vltava Philharmonic Hall, we will also be able to welcome the Kyoto Symphony Orchestra in the main hall.
