On Saturday, 13 June, Vltava Philharmonic Hall project manager Monika Habrová presented the project to visitors at Rohan Design District. The presentation, entitled How Vltava Philharmonic Hall Is Taking Shape, introduced the project’s development to date, its current phase and the next planned steps.
Monika Habrová guided the audience through the history of the project, from the first discussions about a new concert hall and the founding of the Association for the Construction of a New Concert Hall in Prague to the selection of the Vltavská site and the international architectural competition won by Bjarke Ingels Group.
The presentation also offered a behind-the-scenes look at the work of the project team. Visitors learned about project meetings and coordination, collaboration with architects and contractors, study trips, and visits to workshops and glassworks. The presentation also introduced the material selection process for the future building and the scale of documentation required for a project of this complexity.
The final part focused on the project’s current status and the timetable for the next steps. Work continues on the building permit documentation, the production of the acoustic model of the main hall, operational planning and the coordination of related parts of the project.
Throughout Saturday’s programme, visitors could also view a model of the future national music centre and explore its architecture and integration into the Vltavská area. VR headsets then transported them into the future, allowing them to walk around the building, enter its future interiors and gain a clearer sense of its final form.
