In early February, the project team traveled to London for a working trip devoted to expert discussions, consultations, and the study of selected reference projects.
London was specifically chosen as a city with a long tradition of cultural institutions and current projects where it is possible to observe their functioning in everyday operation.
An important part of the program consisted of working meetings with the BIG studio, during which the project team worked with the first prototypes and samples of selected interior elements of concert halls. Prototypes of lighting fixtures and seats and their relationship to the space were discussed.
At the same time, 3D software was used to verify visibility from all key locations—the stalls, terraces, and balconies of individual halls. A separate part of the meeting was also devoted to work on the design of the glass interior façade, including the evaluation of material samples.
In addition to the working meetings, the project team focused on visits to selected cultural projects in London, in particular the Southbank Centre, the National Theatre, and Tate Modern. The aim was to observe how these buildings function in practice – how the foyers are used, how people move around them, and how public spaces are integrated into the everyday life of the city. The project team is evaluating the experience gained in relation to the Prague environment and the specific conditions of the location.
